Autumn Expo by Jarne Elsen at Louise Gallery.

“THE CORONATION OF THE FLY”.
What are the common traits of highly intelligent people, as Jarne Elsen?
Well, They have the tendency to see many things from various angles, almost immediately or over relatively short periods of time. They have a High cognitive empathy of our world and a great Attention to detail & subtlety. Creative highly intelligent people, as Jarne Elsen may have a tendency to transcend or just, make a mess of “things” altogether. The latter is what makes Jarne’s art so fascinating.
At the age of six, Jarne already knew what he wanted and that was: “I want to become a world famous artist like Dali”. With great ambition, he started taking drawing lessons at that age.
A quote from a professor at one of the art academies in Belgium: “I myself have had to work hard for more than 40 years and I have not reached the level of this young artist. Unfortunately I really cannot teach him anything anymore”.
We are proud that the first solo show of this -now just 20 years old- very talented artist will take place in our gallery this year. He chose our gallery after receiving offers from many famous art galleries at home and abroad.
The artist exhibited one of his works at the KMSKA (Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp) at the age of 18. Now only 19 years old, he has already won several art awards.
The shit fly is the signature of Jarne. Why?:
“I don’t give a shit, I follow my own path and I’m going to fly. By the way, the shit fly is a very beautiful animal! The shit fly also symbolizes the recycling of all that lives in the world.
Live and let live!
Society often judges too quickly. Take a closer look at things.
At a dead-dumb green fly.
Then you will discover the structures and numerous colours of it.
Take this please on your life path and discover all that beauty.
Dig deep & discover!”
He takes you into a world of colour and absurdity where the boundary between matter and identity disappears. Colourful scenes full of absurd variations. On the one hand, this creates an upside-down world with numerous carnivalesque
contrasts, but on the other hand, he also creates art works in which the boundaries between matter and identity blur.
In his work he plays with the future of the past. It is to say that his way of thinking and his oeuvre play on the nostalgia of the past and present, but at the same time he predicts the universal.
The fly is an element that refers to or symbolises a buzz of liveliness and freedom. Non-living organisms are vibrated awake, creating a haze of life, emptiness and positivity. Death is always near, but that pair of wings lets us fly, further than far.
It has to be crazier than crazy!
Fascinated by flying, the ambitious artist started studying for his pilot’s license at the age of 18.
The future for this young guy looks bright.
He will fly nationally and internationally, we are sure!
